In the last ten years, a lot has changed in dentistry. The most significant is the explosion in 3D technology that has allowed for the integration of CBCT, CAD-CAM, and 3D printing and milling. CBCT-planned fully guided surgery allows the clinician to plan implant surgery based on the desired final prosthetic results and to deliver the implants precisely and accurately in less time. This course describes the techniques, workflow, and benefits that guided implant surgery brings to clinical practice.

Learning objectives:

  • To understand why prosthetically-based guided implant surgery is superior to freehand techniques, no matter how experienced the clinician may be.
  • To become familiar with the clinical techniques of fully-guided implant surgery.
  • To appreciate how digital technology improves the accuracy, predictability, and efficiency of dental implant treatment.
