Course Description:
Once a thorough evaluation of a patient is completed and a formal dental diagnosis (Phase I) is determined, the treatment plans to address the diagnosis and patient desires should be formulated for presentation to the patient. Creating recommended and alternative treatment scenarios for the patient in a priority based and systematic way is critical for patient acceptance and optimizing the outcomes of treatment.

Upon completion of this course, learners should be able to:
• Describe the principles of proper sequencing of treatment plans based on the Phase II, III and IV classifications.
• Explain risk and prognosis and how determination of these factors can affect the treatment plan.
• Understand the need for informed consent and how to document in the context of the treatment plan.
