In a world where technology is continually advancing, chronic disease has become the leading cause of death, and rising trends in oralsystemic links are identified, it is imperative that the dental profession rises to effectively serve the public. While the dental community focuses on the timely identification and intervention of periodontal, caries and pathologic diseases of the oral cavity, an unknown yet common disease lurks untreated within the dental industry.
