Sustainability is humanity’s most urgent challenge. As individuals, communities and businesses, we must all act now to protect the future of our planet, create a fairer, more inclusive society and ensure the highest standards of ethics and responsibility.
The dental industry is no exception. In a global study commissioned by us, nearly three-quarters of you told us becoming more sustainable is important for dentistry yet 7 in 10 of you also believe our industry is lagging behind on actually doing so.

During two inspiring, interactive courses, you will learn what sustainability means for the dental industry and why it is so important. We will introduce you to key terms, goals and initiatives, and you will discover clear, practical steps for how to work more sustainably.

Meet our lecturers
Dr. Steve Mulligan
Dr. Steven Mulligan is a clinician, teacher and researcher based in South Yorkshire, U.K. He is a founding member of the FDI World Dental Federation’s Sustainability in Dentistry Task Team which aims to provide guidance to improve sustainability throughout the entire dental supply chain (from manufacturing, via distribution, through clinical use and disposal). In this role he has co-authored an industry ratified Consensus Statement on environmental sustainability in oral healthcare and developed a toolkit for clinicians. He has published extensively on the topic of environmental sustainability in dentistry and is a peer reviewer for multiple journals. He is an international speaker and key opinion leader to GSK, P&G, SDCEP and the FDI World Dental Federation.
Prof. Dr. Rainer Seemann
Prof. Dr. Rainer Seemann, DMD, PhD (Dr. med. dent. habil.), MBA is Vice President Global Clinical Research and acting Chief Clinical Officer at Dentsply Sirona and Professor at the Department of Operative-, Preventive- and Pediatric Dentistry of the University Berne, Switzerland. Dr. Seemann studied Dentistry in Berlin, Germany and worked in several positions at the Dental School of the Charité, Berlin University Clinic, Germany before joining Dentsply Sirona. He finished his PhD (habilitation) in 2006 and holds an MBA in Health Care Management since 2007.
