In this course, we discuss the essential principles and considerations for full-arch removable overdenture success in both the mandible and maxilla. Clinicians are seeing a growing number of patients with complete or partial edentulism. With the aging population and increased life expectancy, residual dentitions often present with recurrent caries under crown and bridge reconstructions, periodontitis, failing restorations and compromised occlusion. In many cases, treatment may include full mouth extractions and prosthetic rehabilitation. In addition, fixed implant supported prostheses may not be feasible for every patient. Limitations include anatomy of the arches, financial resources and the patient’s oral hygiene habits. Clinical studies have shown improved the quality of life with removable implant supported prostheses. This course will focus of the diagnosis and treatment planning, case selection and delivery of care from the surgical, interim and final prosthetic phases based on contemporary scientific evidence. An enriched clinical content including several case reports will illustrate the protocols involved to achieve excellent function and aesthetic results with implant overdentures.
