Charlotte. Are you looking for inspiration to modernize or design your dental practice? You will find lots of cutting-edge topics in design and workflow in the new digital issue of Dentsply Sirona’s trenDS Magazine, which enables you to access interesting content anywhere and at any time. The magazine is a celebration of a
variety of regional and individual design trends that are creating an exceptional patient experience in dental practices around the world by combining innovative ideas for comfort with excellent clinical results.

This trenDS Magazine issue features an array of international practices. Dentists from around the world share how they have incorporated exceptional design matched with innovative, high-quality technology to create smarter workflows and a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere for the team and patients alike. Our trend researchers have identified three inspiring international trends in dental practice interior design:

Natural Perspective – a design trend characterized by refined simplicity, sustainable materials, and functional technology, all with a highly aesthetic value.

Calming Comfort – with its defined gentle colors, supple materials and curved shapes this trend promotes a sense of well-being, comfort, and stress relief.

Artistic Spirit – a refreshingly creative approach to design that turns rooms into living collages and is characterized by a variety of new materials and bold colors.

"All of the trends underline the shared objective of creating an experience based around comfort and wellbeing. Sustainability, naturalness, liveliness and diversity are the themes that we see as trends worldwide
on equal footing with the theme of digitalization. The focus is always on patients with their desire for the best healthcare and their desire for dental aesthetics," said Susanne Schmidinger. A study conducted by the
Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University (DHBW) in Press Release collaboration with Dentsply Sirona has shown that the furnishings of a dental practice and a modern treatment center have a very strong impact on patients' wellbeing and their perception of the quality standards in the practice. "As much as high-quality treatment is the most important factor by which a dental practice is defined, the individual style of the treating dentist is underlined by high-quality furnishings with appealing colors and lighting concepts that leave a lasting, positive impression on patients," explained Schmidinger.

How design contributes to efficient workflows and safer dentistry

In addition to interior design trends, trenDS Magazine showcases more practice-relevant topics related to design and workflow, including patient comfort and communication, digital clinical workflows and hygiene
management. Dentists from around the world present their individual ideas and solutions and explain their choices in terms of furnishings.

“High-quality technology provides security and makes a big difference in the treatment outcome. We therefore opted for solutions that are coordinated with each other – starting with the Intego, Sinius and Teneo treatment centers, to the Orthophos SL imaging unit and Primescan intraoral scanner, through to the CEREC milling unit,” explained Dr. Anna Trojan, from Berlin, Germany.

Her partner Dr. Christina Erdmann added: “As a nice extra we were also able to choose the upholstery colors for the treatment units so that the technology fits harmoniously into the overall concept. It's simply a
beautiful sight when you walk into the room – cool technology, cool design.”

“The way technology and design interact inspires dentists and patients alike,” explained Florian Sobirey, Director Design at Dentsply Sirona. “Dentists expect new products to be not only powerful and versatile, but
also highly intuitive and instantly understandable. Additionally, patients value great design, as it conveys emotion and comfort which is paramount for an exceptional practice experience and thus customer
satisfaction.”

A well-thought-out design combining color, light and materials with functional processes and innovative medical products not only creates smarter and safer workflows but also a positive ambiance for the team
and patients. This is an ideal that Dentsply Sirona incorporated in the next generation of digital dentistry solutions: The new Axeos 2D/3D imaging solution with award-winning design is a conversation starter in
the practice. Patients notice the ambient lighting and appreciate having access to state-of-the-art technology. Digital imaging also makes it possible for images to be immediately available to discuss with the patient at the dental chair or in a separate conference room. This smart connectivity helps to facilitate conversation, understanding of treatment planning, and trust.

Another great example of how design and function interact is practice sanitation, as treatment centers like Intego but also the intraoral scanner Primescan and infection control and prevention solutions like DAC
Universal1 are designed to exceed specific standards and norms. But a well-thought-out easy-to-clean design can further minimize the risks of contamination and make workflows as easy as possible. Special topic
articles in the new trenDS Magazine feature new findings, ideas and best practices on infection prevention, patient experience, dental office design and dental product design, allowing dentists to be inspired with modern solutions and intelligent design for their own practices.
