This presentation will discuss the role of the Dental Education in active advocacy specifically related to the management of conditions and treatments for persons with disabilities. Looking specifically at the management of dental caries, this presentation will speak about the needed therapies to provide optimal care and the social, economic, and practice limitations created in providing said care.

Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, learners should be able to:

  • Participants will understand the role of Dental Education in preparing a workforce adequate to maintain the needs of a growing disability community through the lifespan.
  • Participants will understand the role of health facilitators/community health workers in assuring optimum oral health for individuals with disabilities.
  • Participants will understand the role of telehealth in assuring optimum health for individuals with disabilities.
