Clinical education is paramount for professional development and best patient care. Dentsply Sirona is highly committed to ensuring that learning new skills and techniques is as convenient as possible. For this reason, Dentsply Sirona World has expanded into various geographies, reaching new audiences from different parts of the globe. In September, three DS World events took place within three weeks—in Las Vegas, USA, Madrid, Spain and Riccione, Italy. Dental professionals had the opportunity to experience a program of high-quality lectures and demonstrations of the latest innovations from Dentsply Sirona.
Charlotte, NC. More than 6,500 attendees experienced Dentsply Sirona World Madrid, Riccione and Las Vegas this September, featuring excellent and forward-thinking presentations, clinical case discussions, and live demonstrations of products. With the power of digitalization as a connecting thread throughout the three events, DS Worlds provided clinicians with continuing education and peer-to-peer knowledge sharing to enable them to advance with confidence into the future of dentistry and facilitate their adoption of digital solutions.
Dentsply Sirona World took place in Italy for the second time with an exceptional continuing education format, and the event was held in Spain for the fourth time. Close to 2,000 registered guests and more than 100 speakers attended in Riccione and Madrid, where dental professionals had the opportunity to enjoy a program of lectures, courses and demonstrations of the latest innovations from Dentsply Sirona products and solutions. Speakers included well-known clinicians such as Dr. Marco Degidi, Dr. Costanza Micarelli, Dr. Marco Martignoni, as well as Dr. Miguel Roig, Chairman of DSW Madrid, Dr. Adrián Guerrero, Dr. Jenifer Martín, among many others. They gave an overview of their latest research findings and set the tone with highly innovative treatment concepts.
In Las Vegas, where the DS World concept was born almost 20 years ago, the "Ultimate experience in digital dentistry" continued to delight close to 5,000 attendees in 2023 with more than 130 courses presented by more than 100 renowned experts. In a first, the General Session included two live simulcast procedures, an implant and an endodontic case performed by renowned experts Dr. Mark Ludlow and Dr. Lynne Thomas.
Under the mottos "The patient at the center of the digital workflow" (Italy) and “Patients first” (Spain), both European events centered on the utilization of digital technologies to enhance patient outcomes: achieving excellent long-term clinical success and providing a comfortable treatment experience. These are fundamental elements for nurturing a trusting dentist-patient relationship and fostering practice growth.
"Patients are increasingly coming to our practices with very clear ideas," says Prof. Simone Grandini, Professor of Endodontics and Restorative Dentistry at the University of Siena, Italy. "They want healthy and beautiful teeth regardless of their age and are willing to go a long way to achieve that. It is important that we as dentists, in collaboration with our dental technicians, have concepts to make this work. From my point of view, the events at Dentsply Sirona World offered valuable inspiration for that."
Dr. Miguel Roig, University Professor and Head of Dental Restoration at the International University of Catalonia in Barcelona, emphasizes the growing significance of an interdisciplinary approach to treatment, particularly when viewed from the patient's perspective. "The healthy smile that patients want us to provide is becoming increasingly possible—but only through the intervention of various specialists. Gathering them in one place for exchange is what sets events like Dentsply Sirona World apart."
This was, among other things, supported by workflow-oriented sessions: from diagnosis to considering different treatment options, to planning and its implementation in the fields of implant dentistry, orthodontics and endodontics. It became evident that the best results are achieved when treatments focus on the patient's overall oral health. This was demonstrated in the plenary session in Madrid, which took the audience on an exciting journey through a complete digital dental workflow—with the patient playing the leading role. Digital technologies act as treatment enablers, empowering clinicians to progress with confidence and focus their undivided attention on the patient.
The congress in Italy also offered the opportunity for educational training on practice and lab management— a format that was met with great interest among the attendees. In Madrid, Chema Alonso, globally renowned digital security expert and former hacker who currently serves as the Chief Digital Officer at Telefónica, offered insightful perspectives extending beyond the realm of dentistry.
Participants at all three events also had the opportunity to get to know and try out the latest innovations from Dentsply Sirona like the most recent updates in DS Core's Communication Canvas, Ordering and Viewer functionalities. Among other notable new features, DS Core now has the capability to view even more data formats, making it more accessible for many users of 3rd party IO-scanners. Also at DS World, the Suresmile® Simulator* launched. Powered by DS Core, it enables dental professionals to transform treatment conversations by showing patients the potential esthetic benefits and helping them make informed and timely decisions. By measuring initial models and generating estimated treatment duration and complexity from the post-simulation results, clinicians can enter the planning phase with greater confidence.
In addition, attendees were given the opportunity to take a comprehensive look at the new** X-Smart Pro+ endodontic motor, ProTaper Ultimate endo filing system, the EV family of implants, the CEREC Tessera and MTL Zirconia+ CAD/CAM blocks.
Gerry Campbell, Group Vice President Commercial EMEA in Dentsply Sirona, stated, "Conferences like this highlight how innovative Dentsply Sirona's approach is and allows clinics and laboratories to remain at the forefront of digitization in their daily practice. Our mottos ‘Patients First’ and ‘The patient at the center of the digital workflow’ perfectly describe our company's focus, because all of our solutions are always designed to maximize the patient experience."
