Free dental clinic to be held on July 26 for youth at Truist Field to benefit Boys and Girls Club, local organizations.

Charlotte, NC., July, 2024. Dentsply Sirona, the world's largest manufacturer of dental products and technologies, today announced it will again organize a free dental clinic in partnership with TeamSmile to help ensure that underprivileged Charlotte youth have access to much-needed dental care. The free dental clinic will provide youth no-cost dental care and the chance to meet Homer the Dragon, Official Mascot of the Charlotte Knights, and will be held on Friday, July 26 at 8 a.m. at Truist Field at 324 S. Mint Street in Charlotte, NC.

“As a leader in the dental industry, it is part of our mission to improve access to dental care, particularly for those in need,” said Andrea Frohning, SVP, Chief Human Resources Officer at Dentsply Sirona. “As part of driving that change, we are happy to partner with TeamSmile on an upcoming program in Charlotte. This partnership enables us to give back to the local Charlotte community while also helping improve health outcomes for our youth.”

Dentsply Sirona employees will also serve as volunteers. In 2022, nearly 200 Charlotte-area youth benefited from the free dental clinic supported by Dentsply Sirona, and the organizers are expecting a similar crowd this year as the clinic will include youth from Charlotte-area Boys and Girls Clubs and other local organizations. Youth attending this year will also have the chance to have their faces painted while receiving dental care including free dental check-ups and treatment as well as free oral health education. Dentsply Sirona and TeamSmile invite all members of the community who are interested in volunteering to sign up online.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention*, “Children aged 5 to 19 years from low-income families are twice as likely (25%) to have cavities, compared with children from higher-income households (11%).” Increasing access to oral health and achieving 25 million healthy smiles by 2025 are core commitments of Dentsply Sirona’s mission and sustainability program, “BEYOND: Taking Action for a Brighter World.” The company augmented its support last year to become a national partner of TeamSmile and has provided financial support, donated products and on-the-ground volunteer support at events.

“We are thrilled to work with the Charlotte Knights and Dentsply Sirona to serve the children of the Charlotte community,” said John McCarthy, Executive Director at TeamSmile. “Together, we will make a positive impact through the unique and special TeamSmile model.”
