The ability to perform atraumatic and efficient tooth extractions is a critical skill required to be a successful implantologist. In this session, Dr. Fien will present various strategies, specific techniques, as well as a simplified armamentarium that he uses day in and day out to minimize the trauma of tooth extraction and set the stage for the rest of treatment. The important anatatomic and site specific factors that drive the decision making processes will also be discussed in detail with the goal of decreasing post-operative complications and ultimately improving long term treatment outcomes.
Course Objectives:
At the completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Recognize the normal healing pattern following tooth extraction
- Understand anatomic and site specific factors that relate to tooth extraction
- Identify what tools and techniques can be used to perform tooth extraction
- Understand the benefits of atraumatic tooth extraction on long term treatment outcomes
