The programme aims to provide practitioners with an update on material choice for posterior approximal restorations – with a focus on approaches that replace the use of amalgam.

During this series of 4 webinars, delegates will revisit the fundamental principles behind cavity design, and the specific technical requirements of direct restorative materials. We will revisit the mechanisms of micromechanical bonding and discuss the importance of substrates, and selective approaches. Whilst visiting the concept of posterior approximal preparations and restorations, we will discuss the concept of deep margin elevation and when considering anterior approximal restorations we will visit some fundamentals in relation to employing the use of wax-ups and matrices.

Learning content

This webinar will cover ideal cavity design for anterior approximal caries. The material will cover materials use and choice (Spectra ST, SDR flow) and options for matrices and matrix adaptation. The webinar will discuss the value of a wax-up and using a putty matrix to aid with incisal edge composites. Polishing and finishing systems will also be discussed.
