From the event’s opening moments, Dentsply Sirona World made clear that the future of dentistry has arrived. Dentsply Sirona’s annual flagship clinical education event, known as the ‘Ultimate Experience in Digital Dentistry’  gave participants a unique opportunity to earn 10+ CE credits through an individually-tailored learning experience across nearly all disciplines of dentistry. Over 100 respected speakers and educators led 130 courses throughout the three days at the MGM in Las Vegas. DS World hosted 85 exhibitors and Dentsply Sirona presented an array of new products and solutions designed to help dental professionals deliver the best possible care to their patients. 

Charlotte, NC. With close to 5,000 attendees in 2023, the event delivered once again on its objective of educating, engaging, and entertaining dental professionals from across the globe. With the power of digitalization as the connecting thread throughout the three days, DS World provided continuing education and peer-to-peer knowledge sharing to enable clinicians to advance with confidence into the future of dentistry.

Clinical Education Highlights^*

There were many memorable mainstage moments at this year’s DS World. Among them, Dr. Wally Renne spoke about how cloud technology is enabling clinicians to do more with data. In his presentation, The Digital Twin: Combining Digital Inputs to Transform Patient Care, he shared some of the inspiring ways that digital technology enables him to give his edentulous patients their smiles back.

Dr. Shivi Gupta spoke about the power of DS Core and its impact on increasing the efficiency of her practice by sharing real-life, everyday case examples. Dr. Mia L. Geisinger spoke to the audience about an important but sometimes overlooked topic in dentistry – mental health, focusing on the stress and pressure that dental professionals suffer and providing insights on how to turn the situation around for their benefit and that of their practices and patients.

In a DS World first, this year there were two live procedures streamed from the Dentsply Sirona Academy in Charlotte, NC, to the mainstage in Las Vegas. Dr. Mark Ludlow performed an implant overdenture surgery on an edentulous patient using 4 PrimeTaper® implants, the Simplant planner and a mucosal-borne surgical guide while Dr. Lynne Thomas demonstrated a workflow that allows her to provide endodontic and crown treatment in a single visit by capitalizing on the power of digital solutions.

As sustainability becomes an increasingly pressing issue, Dentsply Sirona hosted a special breakout session titled “5 Tips to Make your practice more sustainable” featuring practical, simple, and implementable ways to achieve this, such as leveraging digital solutions, turning off office lights during lunch breaks, substituting single-use plastics when possible or fostering environmentally friendly travel options.

Dentsply Sirona New Products and Solutions

Several new products and solutions** were also showcased and available for hands-on demos for the first time at DS World 2023. Among them were updates in DS Core’s Communication Canvas, Ordering and Viewer functionalities, which along with other notable new features, make DS Core more accessible for users of 3rd party IO-scanners; the new SureSmile^TM Simulator***, which empowers dental professionals to transform treatment conversations by showing patients the potential esthetic benefits and helping them make informed and timely decisions; and OSSIX Agile^TM. The pericardium membrane along with the GLYMATRIX® sugar cross-linking properties of OSSIX Agile™ provides longevity and biocompatibility, resulting in low host reactions and a long-lasting barrier effect.

Creating community in a unique atmosphere

Las Vegas is never short on networking and entertainment. DS World attendees enjoyed an amazing variety show on the first evening while 17-time Grammy winner Sting performed on the second. DS World participants arrived anticipating an event to remember and left with experiences they will never forget.
