For the first time ever, Dentsply Sirona World was hosted in the Asia-Pacific region, as DS World Tokyo 2024 took place from November 23-24 at the Bellesalle Shiodome. The event brought together over 600 participants for two days of cutting-edge clinical education, networking opportunities, and vibrant experiences. Dubbed the ‘Ultimate Experience in Digital Dentistry,’ DS World Tokyo 2024 delivered on its promise, and left a lasting impact on the dental community in Japan.

Charlotte, N.C., January, 2025. Dentsply Sirona World Tokyo 2024 has successfully concluded, with attendees enthusiastic about the event’s high-quality lectures, presentations of the latest innovations, and valuable opportunities for professional growth and networking. The lineup of 27 renowned speakers included both international and local dental thought leaders who shared their extensive knowledge, providing deep insights into the future of digital dentistry. The speakers covered topics from across many areas of dentistry, including restorative, implant dentistry, and orthodontics among others, and how digitalization can support more efficient workflows. Among the mainstage highlights were presentations on:

·        The Forefront of Digital Dentistry in the United States, presented by Dr. Takanari Miyamoto, offered a glimpse into how the digital transformation is revolutionizing dentistry overseas.

·        Evolving Digital Workflows in Dentistry: Simple to Sophisticated, Dr. Mark Ludlow explored the transformative impact of digital technology on modern dentistry and covered single-tooth procedures to full-arch restorations.

·        The Future of Japanese Dentistry Created by Digital and Dentsply Sirona, a panel discussion that focused on the digital transformation of dentistry in Japan, offering key takeaways for local practitioners.

Further to the general session presentations, the program expanded into 11 breakout sessions, showcasing diverse aspects of modern dentistry. A standout session featured young dentists presenting clinical cases using DS Prime Solutions – Primeprint, PrimeTaper EV Implant and Primescan, highlighting how these innovative solutions and workflow transform their practices.

Innovations that Moves Dentistry Forward

Participants also had the opportunity to experience the company’s latest innovations firsthand, including Primescan 2[1] – the first cloud-native intraoral scanning solution. Dentsply Sirona’s wireless and highly versatile next-generation intraoral scanner opens a new era of connected dentistry, allowing scanning directly to the cloud on any internet-connected device. And PrimeTaper EV Implant – a self-tapping, low torque implant was also displayed and available for hands on experiences.

Going BEYOND for a More Sustainable Future

Another impactful session was led by Dr. Keiko Okubo of the Women’s Dentist Association, who discussed the current needs of female dentists in the field and provided information about Dentsply Sirona’s Global Women Speaker Development Program called FirstTo50. The program aims to empower women in dentistry by helping them to develop their speaking and presentation skills, ultimately fostering a new generation of speakers and opinion leaders. Making dentistry more inclusive is part of Dentsply Sirona’s sustainability strategy, “BEYOND: Taking Action for a Brighter World.” BEYOND represents the company’s commitment to driving sustainable change – both within its own operations and throughout the dental industry – by reducing its environmental footprint, fostering diversity, and supporting communities in need.

“Attending Dentsply Sirona World Tokyo 2024 was an incredible experience,” said Dr. Masami Arai. “The energy and atmosphere were unlike any event I’ve been to before. What impressed me the most was the perfect balance between local experts, who deeply understand the unique needs of the Japanese dental market, and the insights from internationally renowned speakers who brought a global perspective on the future of dentistry. It was both inspiring and practical, and provided a new toolkit that I can apply to my own practice.”

“We are incredibly proud of the success of Dentsply Sirona World Tokyo 2024,” said Juan Rodighiero, Vice President, General Manager, Japan at Dentsply Sirona. “The turnout and enthusiasm from attendees reflected the importance of this event in advancing digital dentistry in Japan.
