The Universidad de los Andes in Santiago de Chile is pursuing a visionary concept in dental training: Students will receive extensive training in the area of digital dentistry to help them transition seamlessly into the modern world of professional dentistry.
Although digital dentistry is rapidly gaining ground as part of clinical routines and offers numerous advantages for both dentists and patients, many dentistry degree courses focus almost exclusively on classic, “analog” training. Digital dentistry only occupies a small section of the syllabus. In contrast, the Universidad de los Andes in Santiago de Chile has integrated digital dentistry as an essential component of its degree and is consistently promoting a learning process with advanced technology throughout the whole of the training program.
Following a long-lasting and successful cooperation starting in 2002, Dentsply Sirona delivered and installed several CEREC CAD/CAM systems, complete with prepCheck analysis software, in April 2017.
The university also works with the dental management software Salud that enables smart patient and chair management and integrates seamlessly with Dentsply Sirona products such as the imaging software Sidexis
