Course Description

Throughout this course, Dr. Mia Geisinger will dive into the prevalence and impact of Cardiovascular Disease and Periodontal Disease, exploring the link between these two diseases.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to: 

Discuss the prevalence and impact of cardiovascular disease in the population

Describe the known associations between cardiovascular disease and periodontitis

Understand the underlying biologic mechanisms and common risk factors linking cardiovascular disease and periodontitis 

Identify the impacts of periodontal care on cardiovascular markers and cardiovascular health 

Develop protocols for screening and patient management for patients with periodontal disease and cardiovascular disease
