Interview with Siegfried Goisser – project leader "speed brake"
What is your job at Dentsply Sirona?
I have been working on the development of instruments for more than 36 years. I have been responsible as project manager for dental turbines for the last 14 years.
What have you invented and what distinguishes your invention from others?
Without our "speed brake" invention for turbines, a high cutting capacity would be associated with serious disadvantages: A high operating pressure leads both to an increased speed, greater wear, increased operating noises and, ultimately, to a shorter service life. Thanks to our speed brake all this is avoided.
What motivates you to continue inventing?
We want to offer dentists instruments which enable them to prepare extremely well while also working safely and comfortably. We do not let ourselves be put off by technical constraints but rather work on overcoming them every day in view of creating greater value for the customer.
In your view what is the role of innovations in dental technology?
Innovations enable our customers to work more efficiently, quicker and safer.
Today, the speed brake is a unique selling proposition of Dentsply Sirona. What are you planning for the future?
The speed brake is part of a decades long tradition of inventions and developments here in Bensheim. I obviously can't tell you that here and now. What I can promise you though, is that we are continuously working on new inventions and further innovations.
